The need to express to communicate.
Payton-Alexis was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended Leesville Road High School and has since relocated herself to the High Country of Boone, North Carolina. She is currently pursuing a degree in apparel design and merchandising from Appalachian State University with minors in both marketing and studio art. Payton has been sewing since her grandmother provided her with her first sewing machine for Christmas, some thirteen years ago. She began taking custom orders and turned her passion into a profession in 2008. Since, she has participated in major Raleigh fashion shows such as Redress Raleigh 2010 and FashionSPARK 2010. In 2010 she received the "Best in Show" award at Appalachian State University's Sustainability Symposium Eco-Fashion Show for her Alice Underground collection. Additionally, Payton received the "Best in Show" and "Best Construction" awards at Appalachian State University's 2011 Spring Showcase for her Junior Collection. Her work has also been featured in two editions of Passion Magazine , an international beauty magazine.
In addition, Payton is also the founder of the annual Boone Handmade Market that takes place in Boone, NC. The market is a juried selection of over 60 High Country area artists that create all forms of handmade art. The market is in it's third year now and continues to support the local artists of Boone with nearly 2,000 guests in attendance at the last show.
